Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14 1988) is an American performer, actor as well as a dancer. In her early Broadway role, she was the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. As the character Essie In You Can't Take It With You she was awarded the Tony Award. Tony Award-winning actress Annaleigh Ashford has spent the majority of her career collaborating with acclaimed actors and directors in the stage, film and TV and she will continue that collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford is set to next appear alongside Kumail Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive show Welcome to Chippendales which premieres November 22. Ashford has been engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. In the form of an Hulu Original, the film is available on Disney Digital Television's channels. The film will premiere in March 2023. Ashford will return to Broadway and play alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. The same team that created Hamilton producers Jeffrey Seller and director Thomas Kail will be at the helm of the production. Ashford's most recent part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. It is based upon the national scandal which involved Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Her two seasons on CBS show B Positive was her first big role. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the famous Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not new to Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role in the role of Essie. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren in Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway performances. Ashford divides her time between Los Angeles & New York. Her birthplace was in Denver & raised there.
