Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th of November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej [now Onesti] Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast to receive a score of a perfect of 10 points in an Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi is an Romanian gymnastics instructor who was later Comaneci's coach, first discovered Comaneci aged six. In 1969, she competed in the Romanian Junior Championships and finished 13th. She won in 1970. In 1972, in the communist nations' meet for juniors before the Olympics, she won 3 gold and silver medals. Then in 1973 and 1974, she became the overall junior champion. When she competed for the first time as a senior, in 1975 she beat the Russian Lyudmila Turishcheva, a five-time European champion winning four gold medals as well as one silver. She was the first woman ever to perform reverse double saltos when dismounting from an uneven parallel bar. Carol Marie Wayne is a United States citizen, born on the 6th of September 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol was a part of the entertainment industry in her teens. At the age of a girl, she began performing as a figure skating performer with Nina Wayne in the travelling entertainment show Ice Capades. These shows were ice skating events with theatrical shows.
